TFA Humanformers: Elite Guard Lineart

EDIT:  Noticed that Sentinel's pants were different in my original; I've changed the lineart now to be more true to the original piece with him.  SECOND EDIT:  Augh, missed a few lines on Sentinel.  Part of his belt and the line separating the blue from the black of his right sleeve.

This is what I'm working on!  I know a lot have been waiting for this.  Heck, for any new Humanformer art from me.  I've had ideas, but it takes that flash of inspiration to get the good looks going.  I've had a lot of people asking to see Jazz in my own design, and I sort of wanted to try a shot at Ultra Magnus, so this re-draw of the iconic scene where the Elite Guard first rolls out on Earth fit perfectly.  And you get to see Sentinel Prime with his head on, lol.  Although I did change his design on one aspect for ease of coloring; he's now got dyed orange stripes in his hair instead of having the tips frosted orange.  If anyone were to do this it would be Optimus since his helmet actually HAS stripes, but he's not as flashy as Sentinel, so . . .

I'll be going into more detail and description on the finished picture when I complete it.  But I thought I'd throw this out in case anyone wanted to have fun with it.  I've left some lines in just in case anyone wants to move the characters around in their color art.  I'm actually inviting people to have fun with this one!  Just make sure to credit the lineart to me, and give me the link to your finished piece so I can put it up here and get the word out about it. 

This took a week to trace with vector lines.  I really need a faster way to lineart.  When I draw it myself, it comes out all wobbly and sloppy and blurry, and this makes for very crisp lines.  But it takes AGES because I have to pull and tug vectors for every flipping line and there were a LOT of lines in this (blaming the details on Ultra Magnus, the chains on Jazz, and the fur on Sentinel's coat lining).  I'm also starting to line trace my art at a MUCH MUCH higher resolution than before, because it gets me even sleeker lines.  I'm still experimenting with the width though, so the lines this time around came out much thinner than I usually use.  Save for Magnus's head, which I had traced at a somewhat smaller resolution, then enlarged when I decided to go bigger.

OK that's about it.  Have fun!  I'll be working on my own finished version now too, although that will be a while since I'm slow.  Like politics on an off-election year.



_{. . .  Is it wrong to think of characters you draw as being sexy?  I thought that with my Young Ratchet design, and now . . . well, lets say that Sean Connery could play Ultra Magnus and he would only barely pull this off in my mind, lol.  I know people loved my Megatron, but this Magnus design is to me the true example of getting more attractive with age.    Maybe I'm getting old too . . .}
