Ok, I'm obsessed. I collect the cards when I have money, I doodle the characters, I follow the anime and manga online as they are released in Japan, and I gather the series in the original Japanese subtitled (because it's well known that the For Kids butcher-dub is crud). I've drawn Yami Yugi before, and I've decided that his wacked out hairstyle is extremely fun to draw (difficult, but fun nonetheless).
Over a year ago, as I was reading the manga scanslations online, I discovered that Yugioh was going in a far better direction than I could have ever hoped. It was going into solid plot. Good, old Egyptian, solid plot. And Yami's name would finally be revealed.
Six months later, I finally found out his @#%$ name. And now, over a year later, I've got the first English release of the manga's Pharoah arc, Millenium World, in my hands. I watched the site as the series Yugioh ran through the Pharaoh arc, then ended in the cumulative battle between Yami (now known as Atem) and Yugi. I was happy.
Until I realized I hadn't drawn Atem yet! So here he is, kind of a mix between the manga and anime styles. In the manga, his cloak is violet. The anime had it navy blue. I combined the two. The anime also came up with some weird Ancient Egyptian duel disk (Dia Dank) that they stuck on his left arm, but I decided to opt for the manga's bracelet instead. Most the coloration is anime, while most the details are manga. A blend between the two.
This was incredibly fun and hard to draw. I didn't copy any specific pose, just kinda made my own up from two dozen shots found on the site I used plus the manga I had in hand. At one point in the anime, he picked up a sword and became the ultimate in cool as he actually fought personally (not with monsters or words, but actual sword fighting! How cool is that?!). I decided to depict that in my picture, but I didn't put him on horseback like he was in the anime because I'm not that great with horse anatomy yet. The sword may have been straight bladed; couldn't tell very well because there wasn't a decent shot of it. But it looks cool as is.
Oh, and the site that I get all my pics and info from is the great [link] This site also can be viewed in Thai and French.

That looks pretty good, actually =)

I used to be into YuGiOh, now I am stuck with cards I don't really do anything with, like my God Cards, Strike Ninja deck, and some other stuffs. I could sell you them if you wanted :P

lol..

You've got God cards?!!? My brother has those, but he's keeping them. How much do you want? I don't have much money at the moment, so I'm not sure how much I can buy...

I'm really not much of a Yugioh fan but I'm a sucker for good fanart =D This is beautiful. The pose, the expression, the background, the detail work... it's all magnificent, and it's a wonderful picture.

Let me show you my pokemans!
Awsome! Probably the best Atem fanart I've seen so far.

Dang you, I STILL envy your ability to color metal.

And shoot! I forgot to teach you how to use the pen tool during the summer! Crud...now we gotta wait again. Sorry 'bout that.

Thanks! This took a while because of the detail. The background actually spells out "Pharaoh Atem" over and over in Egyptian hieroglyphs. Took me awhile to find an Egyptian heiroglyph font, but it was worth it.
I'm a sucker for good fanart myself, lol. ^_^

That's ok, I'm doing fine with shading by hand for the time being.
Metal's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Try drawing more metal objects and copy other people's shading techniques, then you'll develop your own. That's what I did.
Atem rocks. There's just no way around it. I'd like to draw more of him in the future; hopefully, this time I won't mess up his height. I did him a little TOO anatomically correct, lol.

Ah, his legs are bent and he's not standing next to anyone. You hardly notice.

I have got Obelisk and Slifer. It all depends on how much you are willing to pay, lol. Obelisk is English, secret rare, and Slifer is English, ultra rare. I am also selling other cards, like my ninja deck filled with staples and fun times. Though I may keep the deck, sentimental value. But I have other things, like cards needed for a fun insect deck and the like...lol
