500 Favorites: WALL-E Club ID

Description

So I had a secret contest going on that I didn't tell anyone about. Aren't I sneaky? Anyways, the contest was that whomever ended up as the 500th person to favorite me, they would be able to make an art request of me. What to my suprise, but the 500th "person" turned out to not be a person at all, but a club. Namely, the :iconw-e-love-wall-e: club. At first I didn't know if a club would want anything from me, but I asked anyways. Turns out, they were in need of a club ID. So here's my attempt at one for 'em. And it's a great club, BTW.

Got a little more detailed with this than usual, because I wanted Wall-E to actually LOOK like he was 700 years old, and not spankn' new out of the factory with a fresh coat of paint. I hope I got some sorta wear and tear on his paint job. He ended up being the most detailed digital painting I've done yet, and while I don't feel like most of my stuff can classify as "painting" (because it looks cell shaded), this Wall-E certaintly fits the bill. He was fun to draw, in all his detailed glory. Eve kinda pales next to him. I added christmas tree light reflection off her to help, but I couldn't get a starfield reflection that I liked, so I abadoned it.

Starfield design is courtesy of a tutorial I found [link] by :iconkaykomay:. Good stuff, even if my comptuer and Photoshop CMS programs threw fits over it (I had errors that I had no business having). It all got done though.

The only thing I'm unhappy with is the glow of the Christmas lights. I had a complicated glow procedure involving multiple layers and effects like "overlay" "hard light" and "linear dodge", but for some reason, NONE WOULD WORK. Every other layer could do those effects, but ever time I made a layer for the lights, it just would't work. No possible explaination. I got a cool glow effect for Eve's eyes, but not the lights. I blew several hours experimenting before I finally gave up. So oh well, I did the best I could, but it's not as realistic as I was hoping for.

Anyways, this was fun. Thanks for the request, :iconw-e-love-wall-e:! ^_^

Oh, and BTW, if anyone wants to see my Wall-E and Eve Android Collage pic [link] I've moved it to my scraps. Not becauses I want it there, but because it just will NOT show up in my art gallery. I'm putting this link here, and putting the pic in my scraps, because otherwise, no one will even know of its existance. Until DA fixes this, that poor sketch collage will be scrapped.

Smaller, club-ID sized version of this pic is at [link]

WALL-E is copyrighted to Pixar, and I SUPPOSE Disney...
